The region’s top reggae artists are spending their Sundays this summer at the Music Box! We’re serving up fabulous and FREE roots reggae, along with food and drink specials on Sunday afternoons this summer from 4-7pm. (Music from 4-6:30pm) Catch some rays and some reggae while it’s hot.
Why you should see this show…
Milton Blake’s music is reggae in that purest form. He’s from Jamaica, his band plays in a classic style and his lyrics are about social justice and Rastafarianism. Blake’s songs resonate with similar vibrations to the work of the pioneers: Bob Marley, Culture, and Burning Spear.
Milton Blake Bio
Milton Blake was born in the parish of St. Catherine, Jamaica, to Dorothy and Malachi. He began as a break dancer but rapidly went on to music and focused on singing. Milton began singing on a community-based sound system known as “Stereo Tone Hi Fi” after being encouraged by his friends and relatives. Milton Blake collaborated on the song “He Lives” by Roots Radics Band with Dwight Pinkney. Milton has also recorded a number of songs for different producers and record labels, including “Thank You” and “Mr. Government” with Henfield Records.
Since then, Milton has refined his musical abilities and appeared on programs in Jamaica, Barbados, and the US. He has learned how to put together a professional recording project through working with some of reggae’s most excellent musicians, including Luciano and Mikey General, as well as producers Dean Fraser, China Smith, King Jammy, and Bobby Digital.
In October 2013, People Need Jah, his debut compilation album, was released. He produced both the Fresh Souls In Reggae album by a variety of artists, which was released in June 2020, and the “Abuse Of Power” single, which was released in February 2021. Milton’s most recent album, Temporary Obstacle, was produced by the renowned Lloyd “PickOut” Dennis and combines only roots and dub music.
John Holt, Beres Hammond, Luciano, Mikey General, and Dennis Brown are a few of Milton’s favorite reggae singers. Anthony B, Capleton, Sizzla, Shabba Ranka, Buju Banton, and Sizzla for Dancehall.
To achieve your goal, Milton advises, “Always rise above the bad and retain a positive attitude.”
Reggae Sundays Guest Guidelines
To ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, please observe the following:
- Doors open at 3:30pm. Absolutely no early entry will be allowed.
- Reggae Sundays have limited seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Saving seats for later-arriving guests is not allowed.
- Entry is through the venue’s front door only. Climbing over the outdoor fence is strictly prohibited, as is entry through side doors.
- All silver outdoor chairs must remain on the riverside deck. The silver chairs may not be moved inside, or to the boardwalk.
- To ensure a safe, fun environment, Music Box does not allow bubble-making devices, balloons, or similar objects on site.
