Story topic this week…

Swingos: Where Rockers Raged and Legends Were Made
A legendary location: Cleveland’s Swingos Celebrity Inn was a rock n’ roll hub From 1971 to 1982, known as a great place to stay– and even better place to party. Located on Euclid Ave. and E. 18th St., this hotel hosted a parade of actors, musicians, and athletes including Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, and more! Matt Swingos offers a behind-the-scenes look at some of the crazy Cleveland stories that came from operating this historic establishment.

Matt Swingos Bio

Matt Swingos is a third-generation family member who started working at just nine years old at one of his family’s restaurants. Soon after graduating from John Carroll University, Matt became the president of Swingos on the Lake where he developed a world-renowned menu and wine program, winning numerous national and international awards. Matt then opened Swingos Grand Tavern alongside his brother, bringing an aesthetically pleasing casual dining experience to Greater Cleveland.

Currently, Matt serves as the Director of Sales and Operations of Classic, overseeing their entire sales staff and operating as a relationship-focused leader. Matt has helped Classic expand business through his relationships in the industry. While Matt has accomplished a lot over the years, his biggest accomplishments, personally, are his two daughters, Pam and Bia.

The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
