Shadow of Doubt Bio
The Tom Petty tribute Shadow Of Doubt rose from core Cleveland West side cover groups in January 2009. Founding member Rod Wolanin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in spring 2010, carrying on with the band until his passing in March 2011. We are grateful to have played for so many wonderful audiences over the years, with special thanks going to Rod and our other former bandmates: Paul Kompier, Joe Morales, Elvis Manson, Jordan Davis, Ed Callahan. Our shows are a celebration of the diverse, time-honored, often witty and always tuneful songs of Tom Petty. We play all the big hits, to be sure, and if you are a real Petty fan we have plenty of “deep cuts” for ya as well.

Jim Wilson (Tom Petty – lead vocals, rhythm guitar, blues harp) has been in the Cleveland music scene for quite some time, playing in various classic rock bands such as Libido, The Quads, Dark Horse, Cloud Nine, and The Impostors. Jim also currently is a part of the semi-acoustic trio Mike, Jim & Bill Do The White Album. Jim plays a Rickenbacker 6-string electric guitar (Tom Petty Style), a 6-string Gibson Firebird, and a 12-string Schecter Stargazer electric.

Mike Kearns (Mike Campbell – lead guitar, vocals). Studied composition and classical guitar at Baldwin-Wallace with Dr. Loris O. Chobanian. Appears regularly in NE Ohio and environs with Acoustic Tuma, DePrator/Kearns, and Mike, Jim & Bill Do The White Album. Past projects: The Impostors, Robin Stone Band, Blue Cafe, Iguana Conduct, Fuse Five, Two of Us, and Detour. Also has greatly enjoyed the occasional excursion into sound design, music direction, cabaret and musical theater, including onstage guitar work in Cameo Theater productions of GODSPELL (2016), RENT (2014) and MACBETH: A ROCK OPERA (2012).

Pete Algotson (Benmont Tench – keyboards) also plays keyboards for Driven and Bangkok Train Wreck. He uses a Yamaha ES8 coupled with a Hammond XK and digital Leslie processor board for ultimate sound reproduction.

Jonathan Salerno (Ron Blair – bass, vocals). Would you buy a used car from this man? We’ll have some biographical stuff here at some point. Say hello to Jonathan! He is our newest member, having joined in early 2016.

Jack Paletta (Stan Lynch – drums) founded Private Drive 1984-1990, and has also played with Heartbreaker (Pat Benatar tribute), Custard Pie (Led Zeppelin tribute), and Desi Dorsey (oldies, 70s, 80s, 90s). Jack has sat in with Roger Martin Band, Richard & the Heartbeats, Michael Cavanaugh Band, and Billy Morris. Jack also hosted a jam night at Biggies in the Flats, at one point playing with Ace Frehley. His gear includes Gretsch and Orange County custom-built drums and Zildjian cymbals.
