Cleveland Curse, Volume 1
On December 27, 1964, the Cleveland Browns football team embarrassed the Baltimore Colts in the 32nd Championship Game, shutting them out 27-0. Little did fans know that it would mark the last time the Browns would win the big game. Cleveland Curse, Volume 1 in a series, is an entertaining allegory that offers an intriguing explanation why the team and their fans have suffered such devastating pain and suffering all these years: They are cursed. The journey begins on December 26, 1964, when team owner Art Modell meets a mysterious stranger smartly dressed in a suit and long, dark gray cashmere overcoat who presents some papers for him to sign that he says will ensure a Championship win for the Browns the following day. Is Modell making a deal with the Devil that would forever seal their fate?
Dave Eifert Bio
Bay Village’s Dave Eifert showed promise as a writer in college but instead focused on his engineering classes. After decades of working in technical sales, marketing and management, and compelled by Cleveland Browns-induced frustration, he turned to writing as catharsis. Nearly a decade later, he has produced his debut work.
The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
