Tropidelic, Leftover Salmon get the jams going: Also Playing
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Summer is just around the corner, but the music scene is heating up well in advance, as Tropidelic and Leftover Salmon top this week’s Also Playing offering.
Tropidelic, 8 p.m. Saturday, May 12, House of Blues. Born in Kent in 2008, this band has been making waves across the country by being exactly what they call themselves, “seasoned road dogs.” The vocals from singer Matthew Roads are slightly reminiscent of Sting – before he became self-important – but with a bouncier beat, as befits the Tropidelic name. The newest album, “Heavy Is the Head,” is yet one more reason to be proud and supportive of Northeast Ohio’s music scene. The tangible evidence of the band’s hard work is a spot on the inaugural InCuya Festival set for downtown in August. The intangible, though, is the increasing quality of the music. Persons Places Things, Wanyama and the irrepressible Carlos Jones & the Plus Band open, making this a killer of a weekend show. Tickets, $21 to $37, plus fees, are available at the box office, online at houseofblues.com/Cleveland and ticketmaster.com and by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and 216-523-2583.
