Vintage Cavs & Other Great CLE Sports Stories
A sports and faith columnist, author, and public speaker, Terry Pluto takes us back in time to hear some of his greatest Cleveland sports stories both then, and now. Vintage Browns, Cavs, and Indians, to the NBA comeback of the Cavaliers in 2017, and all the moments in between. Cleveland sports has had its miracles. From Austin Carr – the Cavs’ first star, to World B. Free – who saved the franchise with his humor and wicked 3-point shot, Hot Rod Williams – overcame a scandal, played 9 seasons, and changed the city and the world with his big heart, the faith-based Mark Price – one of the best outside shooters and inspirational faith speakers, Lenny Wilkens – incredible coach, and so many more. To this day we still see greats among our sports teams. After all, you can’t spell “miracle” without CLE.

Terry Pluto Bio

Terry Pluto is a sports columnist with The Plain Dealer. He is a Northeast Ohio native, having attended Benedictine High School and graduating from Cleveland State University with a degree in secondary education and social studies. He has written 31 books and is a 9-time winner of the Ohio Sportswriter of the Year. He has been married to Roberta for 40 years, and they live in Akron where they do weekly jail ministry.
The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
