Robert Fripp & David Singleton

An Evening Of Talking with Robert Fripp and David Singleton

Why you should see this show…

Robert Fripp is a founding member of King Crimson, contributor and collaborator with Brian Eno, David Bowie, Daryl Hall, David Sylvian, Peter Gabriel, Posh Poppers Toyah Willcox and Simon Darlow, and a lot of other totally excellent people. Originating director of the Guitar Craft and Guitar Circle program.

David Singleton established DGM with Robert Fripp in 1993 and has reluctantly managed King Crimson since 2018. David is King Crimson’s producer and author of The Vicar Chronicles.

An endless stream of people ask Fripp burning questions, many of which are actually not even quite smoldering. In most cases they would be better answered by David Singleton. This is an opportunity to ask both Fripp and Singleton the questions that get them out of bed in the morning.

Where does Music come from? What does it take to survive the music business? When does the impossible become possible? Can Music change the world? Why did Fripp put on a tutu and dance to Swan Lake at the end of his garden? Who is The Vicar?

This is an evening of conversation, not a concert. Please, NO PHOTO/VIDEO during the entirety of performance, but they are welcome after the show.

Robert Fripp Bio
Robert Fripp is a British musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the guitarist, founder and longest-lasting member of the progressive rock band King Crimson. He has worked extensively as a session musician and collaborator, notably with David Bowie, Blondie, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall, Midge Ure, Talking Heads, and David Sylvian. He also composed the startup sound of Windows Vista operating system, in collaboration with Tucker Martine and Steve Ball. His discography includes contributions to over 700 official releases.

A truly singular figure in rock music, Robert Fripp has brought a unique, strikingly intelligent perspective to his work. One of the most technically gifted guitarists in rock, Fripp is the thinking-person’s guitar hero, showing no interest in shredding but eager to challenge himself and blaze new trails with unusual techniques, unique group configurations, and collaborations with other open-minded talents. Capable of arena-filling bombast and intimate improvised meditations, the unifying elements in Fripp’s style are his highly textured melodic sense, at once jagged and fluid, and a tone that embraces the possibilities of sustain and non-conventional picking and tuning systems. Most comfortable working outside the mainstream of the music industry, Fripp has described himself as “a small, independent, mobile, and intelligent unit,” and he’s applied his gifts to a diverse range of projects — the adventurous prog rock of his various incarnations of King Crimson, his solo recordings based on his “Frippertronics” and “Soundscapes” looping methods, leading his forward-thinking acoustic ensemble the League of Crafty Guitarists, playing on sessions for Talking Heads and Blondie, and writing about the challenges and rewards of life as an independent musician on his website and in magazines.
