A Swingin’ 1940’s Chicago Gangster Mystery

Mr. Anthony DeChette, Boss of the Chicago Mob, was the most feared and powerful gangster in the 1940s. His best friend was Al Caponski. Anthony’s reputation for being cold, cruel, and heartless was well warranted. His motto was “DeChette’s way or no way!” He had the money and power to back up his demands.

His enemies included just about everyone who knew him, especially O’Malley, Sergeant in the Vice Squad of Chicago’s Police Department. O’Malley knows of Anthony’s gambling, prostitution, racketeering, and other illegal activities.

Anthony owned and maintained his headquarters at Saluto’s Supper Club. ‘Big Al,’ Anthony’s bodyguard and Saluto’s bouncer, found Mr. DeChette’s bullet-laden body in his private room at the Club. Inspector Dooright, Homicide Detective, was called to investigate the crime scene. He found shells from a .22 calibre handgun next to DeChette’s lifeless body. The Inspector also noticed the peep hole of the door was open, confirming that DeChette knew his killer.

We are gathered here today for the reading of the Last Will and Testament of Mr. DeChette. His widow Florence and son Anthony, Jr. have arrived, as well as friends(?) and business associates.
Rumor has it, the killer is also present. . .
