Why you should see this show…

From August 25-31, 1982, Michael Stanley Band put on a showcase at Blossom Music Center that has yet to be matched in Northeast Ohio. The band drew 74,404 people to the venue over the course of four concerts — an attendance record that still stands.

It is, perhaps, the crowning achievement in an accomplished career that made Stanley one of the most beloved musicians in Ohio history. “CLE Rocks Presents…Michael Stanley’s Record-setting Blossom Concerts” is a storytelling event that will relive those epic shows — August 25, 26, 30 and 31, 1982. It’s the story of how Michael Stanley Band defied the odds and continued to produce memorable, sold-out concerts in the Midwest for multiple decades.

The event will feature two men who were on stage as members of the Michael Stanley Band – drummer Tommy Dobeck and guitarist Gary Markasky — telling their stories of what went into the production and how it turned into a spectacle like no other. The event, hosted by reporter Troy L. Smith, will be recorded live as part of’s CLE Rocks Podcast.

Michael Stanley passed away in 2021, but his legacy as an award-winning musician, performer and media personality lives on. Join us to look back on a historic career and a landmark moment in Northeast Ohio history.
